28 Jul Frescoes and decorations in a Spanish villa
With August just around the corner, we take you on a tour to Girona, Spain, in a splendid villa where the Mariani Affreschi team together with the architect, Alessandro Dotti, has created this fascinating project.
Mariani’s frescoed decorations blend perfectly with the natural stone walls of the villa
“In this period building, beautifully renovated by the owners,” explains Alberto Mariani, “we created a beautiful setting personalised with original frescoes. Some of the paintings were produced at the actual site and some frescoes were created in our laboratory. The interior design and decorations were supervised by Alessandro Dotti, a very gifted architect from Brescia with whom we have collaborated on important projects in Italy and abroad”.
A fresco inspired by Renaissance maps of Barcelona
The decorations created in the Spanish residence are, for the most part, in monochrome, specifically chosen and conceived for this type of house with natural stone walls and refined atmosphere. Some frescoes, such as those in the bedrooms and living area, were made in the Mariani laboratory using the authentic “strappo” method and then transported to the villa.

The fresco depicting a view of Renaissance Barcelona is of particular value. It was inspired – according to the wishes of the owners – by old maps found in vintage books, and seems to come alive on the walls of the villa.
