A special ceiling for a villa in India

A special ceiling for a villa in India

“Art does not imitate, it interprets.”

These words of the Italian writer, Carlo Dossi, are filled with great truth, and we can use them to tell you about a special project created by the team of Mariani Affreschi artists inside a villa in India.

The project originated from a request by an Interior Designer who wanted to create a unique interior for the villa of a wealthy client, commissioning a very large artwork to decorate with elegance and beauty the ceiling of a hall.

To satisfy the client, the Art Masters of Mariani created a unique work inspired by a Renaissance subject and, in particular, by an Italian masterpiece: the coffered ceiling of the Audience Hall of Palazzo Vecchio in Urbino (also known as Palazzo Ducale).

L'opera di grandi dimensioni e' stata dipinta minuziosamente dall'artista, il soggetto si ispira al soffitto a cassettoni della Sala dell’Udienza di Palazzo Vecchio di Urbino.

The large artwork was painted meticulously by the artist, drawing inspiration from the coffered ceiling of the Audience Hall of Palazzo Vecchio in Urbino

As you can see from the photos, the work required numerous artistic processes, which were all performed in the historic workshop of Brescia. In fact, as requested by the clients, this canvas painting measuring 10 square meters was shipped rolled-up to India, with a special kit for mounting it to the ceiling.

The last decorative touches that will make the painting even more unique and special

The work required great commitment and artistic interpretation. Starting from the outline, the artist sketched the decoration by hand and then added the colours inspired by the subject. The work was embellished with wooden rosettes covered in gold leaf, applied meticulously to make this great Italian artwork even more extraordinary.

Although inspired by an existing subject, the work is nevertheless special and unique because it combines artistic interpretation, handcrafted experience and creativity: qualities that have been distinguishing Mariani Affreschi for decades.
