12 Jun A Giorgione-inspired interior design project by Mariani Affreschi
For Mariani, each fresco painted is a unique and unrepeatable child. It is often born from the interpretation of a customer’s special request which is reworked in sketches by our master painters and which reveals all its personality when installed.
The paintings in this private residence shown here today demonstrate the creative flair of our art masters who have created a fresco with truly exclusive dimensions and execution.
In the initial briefing, the customer of this private home wanted to enliven the staircase that joins the entrance of the home with the upper floor.
They wanted to make this staircase fit perfectly within the context and style of an apartment in the city centre of Castelfranco Veneto.
Mariani Affreschi’s proposal focused on creating a wall fresco with a landscape in the painting style of Giorgio da Castelfranco (better known as Giorgione) that reflects the history of the city.
The wall painting executed with the fresco technique was painted directly on site.
The panels on the lower part of the wall were painted with a faux marble effect, whose colour blends with the tones of the floors of the upper floor. The upper part of the wall was decorated with a landscape painted in rich, deep colours, with the characteristic stain-painting effect also known as “arte giorgionesca alla maniera veneta”.The frescoed stairs look out over the hall and towards the centre of the main square of Castelfranco Veneto.
In the same residence our artists also decorated a niche with a delicate trompe l’oeil wall painting that recaptures the style of the stairs.
In another room, we were asked to paint the wooden ceiling, taking as a reference the decorations already present in the furniture and boiserie of the home. The entire ceiling was painted in soft, delicate colours reminiscent of ivory and the warm tones of golden peach.
The wall around the fireplace was also frescoed, with decorations that recaptured the decorative mood of the fireplace itself, while the colours reflect the shades of the antique terracotta floor and dark beams of the ceiling.
Another wall fresco involved painting the walls under the beams in the bedroom with a floral design.
All the wall frescoes were sketched and designed on paper by our masters and then painted directly at the customer’s home during its restructuring.
